Sclerotherapy is a successful medical procedure that eliminates small varicose, thread and spider veins. These veins are usually found behind the knees, around the thigh, calves and ankles. They can be identified as being distended red and blue blood vessels that are visible below the skin’s surface, and can appear to look like blemishes or can cover large areas in a bruise-like way. This condition is popular in older women and can have a major impact on their self confidence and self esteem.

The treatment includes the injection of a solution into the vein which causes the vein to collapse and fade under the skin. Sclerotherapy uses microneedles and therefore is a painless treatment for patients to undergo. As one of the most successful treatments available, sclerotherapy is highly popular due to its long lasting effects. Although patients will see a 80-90% improvement after the treatment, it does not prevent new veins from emerging in the future, and a touch-up treatment will be needed.

Before your treatment, an initial consultation is offered along with pre and post treatment advice. It usually takes around 30 minutes to an hour to complete the procedure, and we will provide you with a pair of support stockings which will keep your veins closed and will give you the best results. If you require another session of sclerotherapy, we will be able to book you in after a 6-8 week interval, this allows bruising and discolouration to disappear.

To book in for a sclerotherapy session, give Fiona Aesthetics a call today on 07815 904578. We will be able to book you in for a consultation and can answer any questions you may have.
