Summer Skin Care

The sun is shining and thankfully, in the UK this year we have saw some of the best weather we have ever had! However, as most of you know, sun is damaging and drying for our skin so it is time you switched up your skin care regime to ensure that you have healthy, glowing skin throughout the summer months.

Prepare Your Skin

After a few hard winter months, rich moisturisers and night creams, your skin will be altering to the sun and such skincare will have a negative effect on your skin, unlike the positive effect it had over winter. Prepare your skin with a cleansing facial or try one of our skin peel treatments to remove impurities, any signs of aging and hyperpigmentation so your skin will look fresh, younger and will be ready for the summer months.

Change Your Moisturiser

Thick moisturising creams will have seen you through the summer months, but moving into summer as your skin changes with the heat, thicker creams will cause your skin to break out and become oily. Change to a lighter formula that will not clog your pores and always remember, if you are prone to having oily skin, use an oil-balancing product to prevent excess production of oil. If you have excess production of oil, you will be more prone to breakouts.

SPF is ESSENTIAL

Everyone wants a glowing tan through the summer months, which is fine, but consider the effect it has on your skin. Over exposure to UV rays from the sun causes wrinkles and aging of the skin, which is what you will want to avoid. A good quality SPF 15 or plus will protect your skin from the harmful UV rays. Applying an SPF in the morning is not enough to protect your skin therefore it must be reapplied throughout the day until the sun goes down. If it is cloudy outside, you should still be applying an SPF as despite the clouds, the UV rays are still having an effect.

Hydration is Key

The key to a glowing complexion is hydration. Keeping your skin hydrated will allow your skin to look fuller and healthy, with less appearance of wrinkles. A hydrating spray for the skin before moisturising and throughout the day will re-inject the moisture your skin craves. Drinking your recommended daily amount of water will also have a positive effect on your skin, not just for the hydration of your body. In the summer months, you should be increasing your daily intake of water to ensure your body is hydrated correctly, as water is lost more readily.

These are only a few tips on keeping your skin and body in perfect condition throughout summer. If you are going abroad these tips are essential for that picture perfect complexion you seek!
